feeling crafty

Since I didn't get to go to California this past week, I found myself with a lot of free time. My parents got me a sewing machine for my birthday and I decided that I wanted to make something with it.
I have a sweater that I wanted to add more buttons to, so my mom and I went to a fabric store looking for some cute buttons. When we were there, I saw a pattern to make the most adorable bag ever.
My mom, humoring me, let me buy the pattern and then helped me pick out the fabric that I wanted to use. I saw this adorable brown fabric with lots of colored circles all around it and knew that I wanted that to be the main material that I used. So then, all I had to do was pick out other fabrics that matched well with the brown one.
It wasn't actually as hard as I thought it was going to be. And I also think that my mom was suprised with how well I did. I'm used to only sewing simple pillow cases and easy quilts. This was a new experience for me, and I really learned a lot! And I had fun, which is definitely bonus as well. I think the bag it absolutely adorable (and yes, I realize that I've used that word a lot this post) and I just love all the bright colors!
It was a nice project to be able to do while I have a week of free time while I'm waiting for the new semester to start. And, I think I'm going to start a business :)
